Job Description


The Structural Engineering Technician II is primarily a field position. The job focus will be on structural inspections and reporting. Pay is commensurate with experience.

Essential Duties

  • Perform structural analysis of existing structural systems to determine code compliance.
  • Identify common structural issues in homes, multifamily dwellings, industrial and commercial structures (e.g. over-stressed members, damage)
  • Perform structural calculations to evaluate the adequacy of existing structural members and systems
  • Prepare structural review letters and drawings for P.E. review and submittal to local jurisdictions
  • Provide detailed reports of observations.
  • Observe work and verify compliance with plans and specifications.
  • Interact and communicate effectively with clients and client representatives.
  • Verify all necessary documents are in place prior to site visits and collect payment on-site as required.


  • Degree or Certificate in Architectural Technology or Civil Engineering Technology is preferred, but not required. Upcoming graduates will be also be considered.
  • Field experience preferred. Field inspector experience a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, Outlook


  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, solid math skills and reliability.
  • Be authorized to work in the US.
  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, proof of insurance and acceptable driving record.
  • Understand various structural systems (e.g. roofs, foundations, framing)
  • Understand basic structural engineering principles (e.g. bending, shear, loading)
